We are currently looking for a GPS Practitioner in the Johannesburg area. The ideal candidate would need to analyse, report on and administer the company group contracts.


Duties (will include but not limited to):

Safety, Health, Environment and Quality

  • Participate and comply with SHEQ requirements (SHEQ Toolbox)

Policies and Procedures           

  • Adherence to procurement procedures


Customer Relations:

  • Maintain and improve relationships with key stakeholders
  • Liaise with company stakeholders
  • Provide customer service and ensure customer satisfaction and competitive practice throughout the environment
  • Achieve agreed KPI targets
  • Resolve customer queries / complaints

Suppliers Relations

  • Maintain and improve relationships with key Suppliers
  • Liaise with Suppliers and deal with logistical and non-performance issues

Business Processes


  • Determine customer requirements and research market, commodities and suitable suppliers
  • Compile tender documents and proposed contracts
  • Prepare, coordinate the adjudication of tenders within mandate
  • Negotiate final terms and conditions in conjunction with internal Customers and external Suppliers
  • Conduct Supplier site audits for compliance to Commercial and SHEQ requirements

Contract Management and Administration

  • Maintain Group Contracts on behalf of the company according to procedure
  • Verify and compare Supplier contract price amendments according to market related indices
  • Maintain contractual documentation and systems (SAP and DocIT)
  • Handle contract queries from all stakeholders,  follow-up, liaise and provide feedback

Group Spend Analysis

  • Analyse spend on commodity categories and make recommendations for improvements


  • Compile Contract Portfolio strategy document
  • Compile monthly  report on areas of responsibility



  • Increase BBEE spend on contract portfolio

  • Comply with Financial Policies and Procedures
  • Protect company assets

Cost/Value Optimisation

  • Capture benefits
  • Identify and realise cost saving opportunities to achieve GPS benefit targets


  • Operating computer systems
  • Maintaining occupational health, safety and general housekeeping


  • Understand the principles of Total Cost Of Ownership (TCO)
  • Understand the principles of Contract Management
  • Understand the principles of the Mining Charter and BBBEE


Minimum Requirements

  • Commercial / Procurement Degree or National Diploma
  • ERP and/or SAP Experience
  • 3 years relevant experience
