Introduction

A leading fashion retailer has a vacancy for a Senior Garment Technologist Lingerie - Bras and Shapewear in Cape Town. The ideal candidate would need to manage the technical performance of Lingerie Bras and Shapewear in the Group and ensure that they adhere to technical standards and to implement garment initiatives into the Buying groups.

Description

Duties (will include but not limited to):   

  • Enhancing and updating the existing Buying Group lingerie garments through identifying and implementing relevant technology innovation
  • Identifying customer feedback to improve product reliability
  • Providing general and broad lingerie garment  knowledge to the Buying Groups
  • Management of the lingerie garment processes during the manufacture of product
  • Managing the day to day relationships with the bra garment manufacturers to ensure that they are operating to the required technical standards
  • Develop and manage product specifications and technical packs to ensure product meets aesthetic and technical expectations
  • Joint ownership of garment processes with the buying group and ensure adherence to critical path
  • Manage and implement the company safety policy
  • Manage the social and  ethical compliance of the vendor base
  • Strategic management of local and  international vendor base to ensure the correct product is procured from the correct technically competent vendors
  • Lead initiatives to update quality manuals
  • On-board and develop new suppliers to deliver garments to the required the company standards
  • Work on special projects within the supply base to improve quality / drive Value engineering and  "Safety" initiatives
  • Competitor analysis from a technical perspective working closely with fabric technologists
  • Trend research on innovation
  • Drive innovation within the supply base and with marketing to promote the technical difference to customers
  • Training within the supply base as well as stores and  at Head office staff to improve the education level around quality and  innovation

Education

Competencies:

  • A recognised tertiary qualification (ideally in clothing and production management)
  • Proven experience working with Lingerie is essential
  • Proven competence in clothing and production, gained in industry with a minimum of 12 years
  • Quality orientation
