If you are an experienced Chartered Accountant, from a Financial Services background, within a financial product role in one of the banks, and has a knack for developing business strategies to enhance the productivity and growth of the business then this vacancy is tailored just for you. This role is based at the Johannesburg Head office

Description

Business Financial Assessment

  • Develop an intimate understanding of the TUD Business
  • Continuously challenge the status quo to ensure business sustainability
  • Benchmark financial key performance areas and business processes against industry best practices
  • Identify and report on trends and out of line situations to establish and recommend business resolution based on analysis and evaluation
  • Keep abreast of current and new changes within the finance industry to ensure compliance

Budget, Financial Management and Business Processes:

  • Support executive management in the preparation of the annual budget following group guidelines and in alignment with TUD Business Plan. Recommend alternative guidelines where appropriate
  • Present the  budget  to executive management
  • Build budgets using appropriate financial tools ensure these reflect the respective business models, evaluate and correct where required
  • Prepare monthly results and TUD consolidation, ensuring that all financial reports are collated timeously and accurately and compiled in the monthly TUD Management Book
  • Analyse financial data and project future trends to prepare financial forecasts
  • Continuously conduct reviews and reconciliations to evaluate possible risk and avoid revenue leakage
  • Assist in the compilation of the quarterly TUD Board Reports
  • Formulate, document and implement financial processes, policies, and practices whilst ensuring that management practices are robust in order to meet targets and leverage and sustain business competitiveness.
  • Ensure adherence to the required corporate governance standards, update and/or draft new policies and procedures where required

Advise/Recommend Business Solutions:

  • Advise and recommend business solutions based on appropriate analysis and evaluation
  • Highlight important out of line situations, and initiate and recommend corrective actions to the relevant stakeholders.
  • Facilitate recommendations / suggestions on developmental initiatives and ensure alignment to the business needs (current and future)

Strategic Solution Generation:

  • Develop strategy and implementation plans for departmental reporting structures
  • Continuously research and network with others to adopt functional best practices
  • Implement new financial processes where necessary, optimizing performance through the implementation of best operating practices within financial accounting areas of control
  • Contribute to the development and enhancement of financial reporting
  • Continuously research and network with others to adopt functional best practices
  • Continuously review the sustainability of the TUD business model and take a pro-active role in developing and implementing strategic planning and pricing models, in line with approved operating models, and principles

Strategic Operating Model/Product Development:

  • Develop scenarios of assumptions around macroeconomic conditions and ranges of outcomes and use these scenarios to develop a meta-model to inform future capital budgeting decisions
  • Develop a new/amend existing operating model/product design and business structures to support the model
  • Design the operating model, processes and tools to support daily execution
  • Measure ROI of operating model/product/service

New Business Opportunities:

  • Scan the market and assess local and international trends that will translate into business opportunities which meet customer needs
  • Develop key strategic plans for business transformation, complete with roadmap and business case to overcome current and future sustainability challenges
  • Develop and implement multiple/integrated customised solutions, by constantly researching and analysing best practices, to ensure that the organisational needs are met
  • Ensure alignment to the principles of first to market and speed of execution

 

Business Relationship Management and Networking:

  • Develop and communicate plans with the TUD business units to meet agreed critical targets and KPI's
  • Optimize the overall TUD business operations effectiveness by partnering with individual business units and providing requisite support
  • Develop, encourage and maintain good business relationships both within TUD Division and its various business units as well as within the broader Edcon Group

People Management:

  • Encourage, implement and reinforce the Group's Values, Leadership principles and Employer of Choice (EOC) strategies and initiatives
  • Ensure an open, motivated and harmonious work environment in line with Edcon's Leadership philosophy
  • Manage the performance of self and all direct reports (formally and informally), ensuring that regular feedback is given/received and  coaching and mentoring on performance is given/received to enable continuous improvement
  • Be actively involved in own Individual Development Plan (IDP), develop such plans for all direct reports and ensure that the agreed development interventions are delivered
  • Ensure that talent reviews are conducted on all staff to identify the appropriate talent management strategy and drive implementation

Education

Minimum Requirements:

  • CA (SA)
  • 7/8 Years
  • CA (SA) 3 to 8 years' experience 
  • Product/service accounting and development essential
